As a strategic business partner, this position manages and leads the local Quality Assurance and Process Improvement activities at the Mondi Romeoville Inc. facility.  The primary mission is to guarantee that only the highest quality products are delivered to the customer. They represent the voice of the customer within the local manufacturing plant. 
 

Your Mission

1.Quality Control & Assurance

  • Monitor production processes to ensure that paper bags meet the established quality specifications daily.
  • Manage external and internal quality issues.
  • Enter and track supplier Claims in the quality management system.
  • Conduct calls and communicate with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensure timely closure of claims, including follow-ups and documentation.
  • Conduct inspections and tests on raw materials, in -process products, and finished goods.
  • Disposition of all materials (raw, in-process, customer returns) on quality hold.
  • Ensure proper documentation of quality checks and report any non-conformance to management.
  • Work with production to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

2.Compliance & Standards

  • SQF Practitioner.
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the Quality Management Systems.
  • Oversee the development, implementation review and maintenance of the SQF system, including food safety fundamentals, and the food safety plan.
  • Enforce/Implement and Monitor company policies such as ISO, GMP, and relevant environmental or safety regulations by ensuring employees understand and follow rules, address non-compliance on the shift in which it occurs, and document issues for further action.
  • Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and quality control protocols.

3.Process Improvement

  • Manage the Continuous Improvement Program and processes.
  • Present, train and lead groups as part of the process improvement events.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends in product quality and suggest areas for improvement.
  • Do reclaim that is generated on the shift.
  • Lead initiatives for process optimization to reduce defects, waste and rework.

4.Audits & Inspections

  • Prepare and participate in internal and external quality audits to assess the effectiveness of the quality management system and to ensure compliance with industry Standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure that quality standards are followed throughout the production process.
  • Maintain audit documentation and track corrective actions.

5.Training & Development

  • Train production staff on quality standards, procedures, and the use of inspection tools
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality awareness within the plant.

6.Customer Complaints & Feedback

  • Manage Customer returns and credits and lead, investigate customer complaints related to product quality and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Communicate with customers and company management on complaints and project activity.
  • Work with the Sales and customer service teams to ensure customer specifications are met.

7.Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of quality control activities, product specifications, test results, and non-conformance reports.
  • Prepare and submit periodic quality reports to management, highlighting key performance indicators (KPI’s)

8.Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent and applicable work-related experience.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in Manufacturing or Quality required.
  • Previous Continuous Improvement/Lean/Six Sigma management or other relevant continuous improvement methods preferred.
  • Must complete and pass the HACCP course and have SQF practitioner training.
  • SAP and ADP knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
