Summary
The Procurement Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring direct and indirect materials necessary to support production and operations —including paper, film, ink & glue, pallets, corrugated, maintenance supplies, and other indirect materials. This role focuses on supplier performance, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration while ensuring full alignment with Mondi’s quality, sustainability, and compliance standards.
Your Mission
Purchasing & Procurement
- Issue purchase orders, manage order confirmations, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate pricing, purchase terms, and conditions.
- Analyze industry and demand trends and support leadership in developing and implementing sourcing strategies.
- Track key metrics such as cost savings, on-time delivery, and inventory turns.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Monitor supplier performance throughout contract life; identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery, and overall value.
- Build and maintain productive supplier relationships and proactively resolve any issues related to quality, service, or cost.
- Support supplier audits, onboarding, and contract compliance
Inventory & Data Management
- Manage and maintain material part numbers, inventory accuracy, and procurement records.
- Forecast materials, monitor inventory levels, and issue purchase orders to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
- Audit invoices for accuracy, verify receipts, and ensure compliance with purchase orders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Sales, Finance, and other internal teams to support business needs and ensure packaging meets functional and regulatory requirements.
- Support Corporate Procurement and local plant teams in alignment with Mondi policies and global procurement guidelines.
Value Creation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations to leadership.
- Improve procurement processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Perform other duties and special projects assigned by leadership.
Your Profile
- 3+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Planning, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Operations, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field).
- Strong understanding of business processes and supply chain fundamentals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems (SAP or similar) preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
