In 2019 and 2021, Weave Insights conducted consumer research on premium pet food packaging for Mondi and Dow. In 2023, the third and final round of tracking, changes in perceptions and behaviors were measured to catch trends that evolved over a four year time frame. Given the significant increase in pet ownership driven by the COVID pandemic, Mondi and Dow partnered with Weave Insights, a professional market research firm, to measure changes in perceptions and behaviors since the previous white paper in 2019. this study, in addition to the outcomes of comparing 2020’s research to the 2019 research, resulted in several significant conclusions, including significant behavior changes since 2019, during and after the COVID pandemic.
Mondi and Dow partnered to survey premium pet food consumers to gain a deeper understanding of their shopping and decision-making habits. The goal of the study was to determine what premium pet food buyers look for when making a purchase, which features would make them consider switching to a different brand of pet food and how much packaging drives a purchase in the premium pet food category. For example, 75% of those surveyed said they value freshness, which is important to when designing packaging features to ensure pet food stays fresh.
To better understand pain points and leverage new opportunities for product positioning and packaging development, Mondi partnered with Dow to survey dish care product consumers.
