Job Summary:
The person in this position is responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure adherence to production quality standards. Monitors and audits process, material, and product testing against established standards and conducts a continuous analysis of quality defects and deviations. Identifies deficiencies or gaps in testing activities and develops solutions to ensure adequate and robust quality processes. Optimizes processes to comply with existing and new regulatory requirements. The person in this position ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets and has full authority for personnel actions. This person is responsible for ensuring products meet international quality standards such as ISO 14001.
Job Responsibilities:
- Works with various stakeholders, at every part of the manufacturing process.
- Communicate with customers and company management on complaints and project activity.
- Working closely with manufacturing staff on the production floor to ensure quality protocols are followed and documentation is correctly maintained and implement any new changes or adaptations based on a quality review.
- Working closely with external partners e.g., suppliers, customers, etc.
- Ensures that final products are safe and meet customer expectations while keeping the manufacturing process as effective and cost-efficient as possible.
- Set out appropriate tests and acceptable result parameters to ensure that quality testing throughout the manufacturing process is effective.
- Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure.
- Present, train and educate staff on regulations and best practices, and process im provement.
- Respon sible for quality impr ovement projects, and waste.
- Disposition of all materials (raw, in process and customer returns) on quality hold.
- Maintain an initiative-taking approach to concerns/situations.
- Manage customer returns and credits and lead the corrective action process.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management.
- Handle urgent situations in a professional manner.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Understanding the underlying issues and developing successful fixes, changing practices where necessary to ensure that standards are maintained.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential job requirements may include, but not limited to:
- SQF practitioner and HACCP coordinator for the plant.
- Manage internal and external quality issues.
- Manage complaint investigations – root cause analysis, corrective actions, and response.
- Manage customer requests – regulatory letters, surveys, and questionnaires.
- Manage Quality reporting.
- Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as set forth by the company, ensure that all employees are knowledgeable, and adhere to all standards.
- Must be able to work autonomously, making quick decisions and recommendations when necessary.
- Must be able to discern when a situation requires direct manager’s input and reach out accordingly.
- Practice and observe safety rules and regulations and encourage others to do so at all times.

Job qualifications may include, but not limited to:
- Ability to work with office equipment, utilizing computers for tasks and must be familiar with Microsoft Office suite of programs helpful.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of hearing, with or without correction, sufficiently to perceive normal speaking levels and receive detailed information through oral communication in order to work with internal customers and stakeholders by telephone and in person.
- Position may involve kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, lifting, carrying, and moving objects and lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of speaking, writing, and reading English well and possessing a good command of the language so that various types of communications may be conducted in English with people of various levels of education and capabilities.
- Capable of visual acuity, with or without correction, sufficient to prepare and analyze data and figures, view a computer terminal.
- The employee must be able to work any scheduled times, including overnight and weekend shifts as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a lab/science discipline such a mechanical, industrial, production, manufacturing preferred or equivalent work experience demonstrating competencies.
- 1 to 3 years supervisory experience preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in the related area as an individual contributor preferred.
- Previous Continuous Improvement/Lean management experience preferred.
- Must have completed the HACCP course and have SQF practitioner training.
- SAP and ADP knowledge preferred.
- Attention to detail, emphasizing excellence, and innovation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Must have the ability to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and/or delays.
- Must be able to remain focused on work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and wet and/or humid conditions or moderate heat.
- Exposure to noise, and varying temperatures in plant operations.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
- Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to see and respond in potentially hazardous situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear correctly while working.
